REGION 4 NEWS New Section and Branch officers ready to lead Section and Branch leaders from around the world traveled to ASCE Headquarters in Reston, VA, Sept. 20-21, for the annual Presidents and Governors Forum. The event helped prepare new Section and Branch leaders for their presidential years, while also fostering connections between ASCE members from different Regions. Learn more about the Forum. TENNESSEE SECTION, KNOXVILLE BRANCH Annual golf tournament generates scholarship money The Knoxville Branch recently had its 18th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament and Luncheon. The tournament featured 20 teams, and the Branch made $5,500 from the event to issue as scholarships. |
NORTH CAROLINA SECTION Western Branch past-president earns Fellow status Kenneth R. Cooper, P.E., F.ASCE, whose civil engineering career has spanned transportation and construction in Arizona and North Carolina, has been elevated to Fellow status by the Society’s Board of Direction. Cooper is a past-president of the North Carolina Section, Western Branch, and has taught civil engineering and surveying technology at the Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College in North Carolina. REGION 4 NEWS National Hydraulic Engineer named ASCE Fellow A Claudia C. Hoeft, P.E., F.ASCE, an expert hydraulic engineer, has been elevated to the status of Fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction. Hoeft is the National Hydraulic Engineer at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service, in Washington, DC, and previously worked as a hydraulic engineer in Indianapolis and as a national technical specialist in Little Rock.
