| TEXAS SECTION Houston waste management VP named Fellow James Harry Dowland Jr., P.E., F.ASCE, a leader in the field of environmental engineering with a specialty in landfill management, has been named a Fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction. Dowland has worked in disposal operations at Waste Management Inc. in Houston for 16 years and currently serves as vice president of disposal operations and closed sites. | REGION 6 NEWS UT-Tyler excited to play host to ASCE’s national Concrete Canoe finals  Photo courtesy UT-Tyler Student Chapter Cast in concrete, gravity-defying canoes designed and built by ASCE Student Chapters from around the world have been competing in regional tournaments this month, each striving for a shot at the 2016 national finals, coming June 9-11 to the University of Texas at Tyler. Above, the host team had to first travel to Lubbock to compete at the Texas-Mexico Regional Competition, where it won the Keith McBride Spirit of the Competition Award. |
