Hook ’em horns – ‘distinguished’ style

Ken Stokoe, Ph.D., P.E., D.GE, NAE, Dist.M.ASCE, professor in the University of Texas, Austin’s department of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, throws up his “hook ’em horns” sign with colleague Richard Corsi. Stokoe is among ASCE’s 2016 class of  Distinguished Members.

Dallas-Fort Worth AECOM leader named Fellow


Wendy A. Lopez, P.E., F.ASCE, a senior vice-president with AECOM, where she leads the Dallas/Fort Worth Metro operations, has been named a Fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.

As DFW Metro Executive, Lopez has more than 200 staff reporting to her from three offices located throughout Dallas and Fort Worth, TX.

TEXAS SECTION
UTEP professor who combines AI with transportation engineering named Fellow 

Ruey Long (Kelvin) Cheu, Ph.D., P.E., F.ASCE, known as a pioneer in bringing artificial intelligence techniques into the transportation engineering field, has been named a Fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.

Cheu is a professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at El Paso. His teaching and research interests are in the area of transportation engineering. Being also an expert in international and multidisciplinary education programs, he has created or directed transatlantic and transpacific dual–master programs that integrate transportation engineering education with industrial engineering/logistics/supply chain training.

TEXAS SECTION
UT-Austin Centennial Professor earns Fellow honor 

Ellen M. Rathje, Ph.D., P.E., F.ASCE, whose contributions to civil engineering include her research accomplishments in geotechnical earthquake engineering and her leadership in technical organizations and large, collaborative projects, has been named a Fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.

Rathje is the Warren S. Bellows Centennial Professor in the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research spans the technical areas of seismic-site response analysis, seismic-slope stability, and satellite remote sensing of geotechnical phenomena.
