GRADE FOR STORMWATER

Every four years, the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Report Card for America’s Infrastructure depicts the condition and performance of American infrastructure in the familiar form of a school report  card—assigning letter grades based on the physical condition and needed investments for improvement. The 2017 Report Card included grades for the nation's dams, levees, drinking water, inland waterways and wastewater- all receiving a grade of D. However, stormwater did not have its own category. Should stormwater have its own grade in future assessments in the U.S. Infrastructure Report Card?
