REGION 4 NEWS New officers tabbed in 2017 ASCE election The 2016 election for ASCE officers closed June 1, and the results are in. Kristina Swallow, a program manager for the city of Las Vegas, is ASCE’s 2017 President-Elect. She will be inducted at the Annual Business Meeting, Sept. 30, at the ASCE 2016 Convention in Portland, OR. In Region 4, William D. Dubois, John W. Fleming, and Carol A. Stevens were selected as Region Governors-Elect. |
REGION 4 NEWS Eight universities from Region 4 compete in Steel Bridge finals Photo courtesy Bart Quimby Members of the University of Tennessee steel bridge team compete at Nationals. College teams from around the world put their bridge-building expertise to the test in the 25th National Student Steel Bridge Competition, May 27-28, at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. Montreal university École de technologie supérieure took first place in the competition, narrowly edging out Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and the University of Florida. Region 4 schools included the University of Tennessee (21st place), Clemson University (23rd place), the University of Tennessee at Martin (30th place), North Carolina State University (31st place), Arkansas State University (33rd place), George Mason University (36th place), Western Kentucky University (37th place), and West Virginia University (41st place).
