REGION 10 NEWS 13 Asian civil engineering societies converge on Hawaii for CECAR 7 Photo courtesy ASCE The Asian Civil Engineering Coordinating Council – a group established in 1999 that includes ASCE – convened its Civil Engineering Conference in the Asian Region, CECAR 7, last month in Waikiki, Oahu, HI. The conference focused on sustainable infrastructure in the Asia Pacific Region. Special sessions covered such timely topics as climate change and disaster planning and management, coastal management, and others. CECAR convenes only every three years, with host duties rotating among member societies; this year was ASCE’s turn to stage the event. The Japan Society of Civil Engineers will host CECAR 8 in Tokyo in 2019. Learn more about CECAR 7. |
